Session 25: A New Challenger Approaches: Gilroy

The party regrouped at Spirion where they met Gilroy Archibold, Angus’s brother.

They decided to head to New Falkirk, where a false priest of Ixion is holding dominion over a strategic Tyrondi city.

Session 24: Defense of the Waygate

The party defended the Waygate from an oncoming legion of demons led by Hadiel.

In the battle Moira and Angus were killed by the Gunslinger, Kallington. The rest of the party managed to escape through the Waygate before being defeated by the demonic legion.

Session 23: To the Waygate

The party, after rescuing the wayward valor company, made their way out of the burning forest. Several days pass and during the trek to the abandoned valor camp the party decided to ask Zelia about her previous missions.

The party learned a few very important pieces of information:

First, Zelia had been recently exploring the Thunderpeak Isles, specifically investigating the dragon that was there. The dragon has been using his magic to imbue the forces of the Desolation with powerful magic before they have been landing into Northern Tyrond to bolster the rebellion’s. forces.

Second, approximately two months ago, Zelia had met a man named Sloan that wound up saving her life. The man was noteworthy because of his exceptional skill with a gun. She reported that he was seeking out his apprentice because he “needs to complete his training”.

Third, a high priest of Ixion has taken over the town of Zengyi near the main battlefront for the rebellion. It is a pivotal military location and the town is now actively allied with the forces of the Desolation.

Eventually, the party made it to the ruins of the valor camp where they met a Valor Captain who was stationed there. After speaking with him the party began to notice that something was amiss. The captain had made references to a “Courage Venra” that the Wizard-Extraordinaire Esbin Timorel had noted had lived over a thousand years ago. Eventually, they convinced the captain to let them proceed to the waygate and were escorted by a host of undead soldiers.

At that moment, however, the wardrums and beying of a hound signaled that the Hadiel’s troops have arrived. The valor captain, revealing himself as a powerful Mummy Lord, pulled his radiant sword and prepared for battle. The captain then commanded the party to get to the waygate with haste while they defend them from the coming battle.

Session 22: Tracking Down Zelia

The party now on the forest floor began their search for Zelia Farstrider, the Valor-Scout. Coming out of the forest and into a treacherous canyon complex the party was attacked my a group of bulettes. After killing one of them, the rest of them fled back through the canyonside. At the this point, the beleaguered party decided that it was time to rest and found a shallow cave as a respite.

The rest was brief but necessary after successfully navigating the blockade over the skies of northern Tyrond. Emerging from the cave that was refuge for a scant few hours, the outside is no less friendly than it was before. In the air hangs the sound war: gunfire, thunderous explosion, and the whip-crack of mighty spell engines.

The terrain is foreboding: this close to the desolation, the land is cracked and scarred. The elemental darkness is seeping through the very fabric of reality and pressing down on the body and soul of everyone present. Worse, still, the unshakable feeling that Hadiel, the powerful demon-lieutenant you fought on the gunship, is still out in the distance, looming, and seeking to hunt you down.

The party continued their search for Zelia. The canyons offered more bulettes which the party successfully kept at bay. During one of the attacks, the Gunslinger teleported to high ground and noticed a massive thunderstorm rolling in from the ocean.

After getting out of the canyon complex, the party emerged and was faced with crossing a vast prairie to make it to their ultimate destination, a forest where they believed Zelia has been pinned down in a prolonged gunfight. Crossing the field, the storm threw down wicked strikes of lightning and created lightning elementals that the party had to defeat. With some quick thinking, Esbin decided to cast protection from lightning on the party to cross the remaining portion of the field without harm.

Session 21: To the Drop Point

The party continued through the blockade. The Jackal’s Smile took even more damage as it attempted to navigate the massive amounts of gunfire. The heroes battled against more ogre magi and another vrock. After an extended fight, the party emerged victorious and continued deeper past the blockade.

The final encounter in the blockade was against Hadiel himself, a mythic vrock of immense power. Hadiel teleported onto the Jackal’s Smile and unleashed a dance of ruin that ripped through the party’s ship causing it to begin to lose control mid flight. The party took massive damage as Hadiel and his minions laid into the party with all they had. With the gunship spiraling out of control both Moria and Esbin lost balance and fell off causing them to have to deploy their parachutes. The Gunslinger teleported onto one of the enemy ships to continue firing at Hadiel. The bard, Harrington, while below deck, cast invisibility and went above deck to pull the fallen dwarf off the ship and cast featherfall.

The remaining party member, the Magus, Fitch, was surrounded by Hadiel, two vrocks, and the remaining enemy gunships still sieging the Jackal’s Smile. Seeing little chance for survival, Fitch decided to take out the artifact that Rex’tarian had given him and snapped it, summoning Rex’tarian to the encounter. Rex’tarian then stopped time and asked what Fitch would like to happen. Wishing for Fitch’s safety, as well as his fellow party members, Rex’tarian obliged and teleported them to the safety of the forest floor at the surface of the planet.

The party then regrouped to discuss what to do next.

Session 20: The Gunship Battle Continued

The Heroes continued their adventure in the skies over northern Tyrond desperately trying to make it past the blockade to their drop point where they plan to search for the stranded Zelia Farstrider. The Heroes foiled the next wave but not without taking heavy damage as the Darkfolk-piloted airships fired round and round of cannon barrage into the mercenary ship, The Jackal’s Smile. At one point, Fitch thwarted an attempt by the Darkfolk to place a bomb onto their ship.

After defeating that wave and using the intermittent time to heal up the heroes were ready for the next set of adversaries. A Vrock, telepathically speaking to the heroes, issued an ultimatum to surrender to his leader, Hadiel, or be destroyed. The heroes did not heed his offer and, as such, the vrock teleported himself onto the Jackal’s Smile and released a sonic screech temporarily stunning the party. Despite the heroes taking heavy damage, the Gunslinger landed a critical hit on the vrock, killing it.

With Esbin summoning crocodiles and earth elementals on the various enemy gunships disabling their crews. With some more shots fired from the Jackal’s Smile, the heroes managed to get past this wave of foes. In the distance, however, the commander of the blockade, Hadiel, still waits.
